The University of Northampton's Faculty of Health, Sport, and Behavioural Sciences is looking to appoint a Deputy Dean who is an experienced and inspirational academic leader. As one of the University’s three faculties, it includes the School of Nursing and Midwifery, the School of Health, the School of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, and the School of Sport and Public Health. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Faculty’s Executive Leadership Team, driving the implementation of the University’s strategy and the faculty’s strategic and operational plan. The post carries responsibility for overseeing the academic portfolio, PSRB compliance, staff experience, research and knowledge exchange, student recruitment and student experience, staff development, and collaboration with key external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.

We want you to be able to carry out your work in a way that best supports UON and our students, but also you as an individual. We understand this may vary between different areas of the university as well as from one person to another and this post has an expectation of at least three days a week on campus.
About you
You will hold at least a master’s degree in a field relevant to the faculty's academic portfolio. Additionally, you will bring extensive experience in leading and managing teams, with the ability to shape the academic portfolio, while collaborating with others to improve both staff and student experiences. You will have experience in managing delegated budgets and line management. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are crucial, as is the ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritising tasks as needed to meet deadlines.

- Level 7 qualification or equivalent professional qualification or experience
Desirable
- A research degree or equivalent professional experience
- Relevant and current professional registration
Faculty
The Faculty of Health, Sport, and Behavioural Sciences offers a diverse range of programmes aimed at enhancing health, social care, physical activity, sport, psychology, and wellbeing for individuals locally, nationally, and globally. The faculty consists of four schools: Nursing and Midwifery, Health, Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, and Sport and Public Health. In addition to the academic offerings, the faculty also oversees two commercial and enterprise units – the NMC Competency Test Centre and the Podiatry Clinic.
Faculty staff and students are an active and valued part of the local community. They collaborate closely with a wide range of external organisations, including local government, NHS trsuts, health and social care providers, and charities. These partnerships significantly enrich the student and staff experience, while also having a positive impact on both local and global communities and individuals
