This post will predominantly be working Monday to Friday, but will include occasional weekends, bank holidays & events, with shifts varying from 7am to 10pm.

We are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated Commis Chef to join our wider Commercial and Catering Team at the University of Northampton Enterprises Ltd.
The Commis Chef will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef, working within multiple of outlets on our fantastic Waterside Campus.
Our customers and students are at the heart of everything we do. You will need to ensure that this is paramount to everything you do.
The post holder will;
- Assist in the food preparation process, cooking and preparing elements of high-quality dishes, preparing vegetables, meats and fish
- Assist other Chefs
- Help with deliveries and restocking
- Assist with stock rotation and cleaning tasks
- Contribute to maintaining kitchen and food safety standards
We are an accredited Living Wage Foundation Employer and currently pay the real living wage, which is currently £26,280 per annum (for 40 hours per week). In recognition of this, the starting salary for this post has been increased to pay this higher amount which currently supersedes the actual Grade 3 salary before living wage.
About you
The ideal candidate will have;
- Ability to produce good quality basic food
- Understanding of health and safety
- Understanding of basic food hygiene practice
- Ability to work under limited supervision and unsupervised whilst delivering quality work
- Good communication skills
- A high level of attention to detail
- A good level of numeracy
- Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes
- A positive and approachable manner
- Be able to work well as part of a team
Qualifications
Essential;
- Food Safety Qualification
Desirable;
- Relevant qualification or equivalent in professional cooking
