Customer Service Assistants deliver front line, first point of contact support and advice for students, staff and visitors across physical and virtual service points, including service desks, phone, email and web-based services, under the Integrated Help Desk (IHD). 

You will deliver accurate, consistent and timely support and advice for students, staff and visitors via physical and virtual service points under the IHD.  This will include service desks, phone, email and web-based services.

You will work primarily at the Waterside Campus but you may be required to work in other buildings or at another location. 

We want you to be able to carry out your work in a way that best supports UON and our students, but also you as an individual. We understand this may vary between different areas of the university as well as from one person to another.  With Smarter Working you can work with increased flexibility, if you would like to, which can facilitate greater freedom and autonomy.

We are an accredited Living Wage Foundation Employer and currently pay the real living wage. In recognition of this, the starting salary for this post has been increased to pay the higher amount which currently supersedes the actual Grade 4 salary before living wage.

About you

You will have excellent communications skills and be ready to use them in-person, on the phone, by email and through a chat service.

You will be familiar with using Office 365 and other web applications. You will be confident in identifying and solving problems, or involving others to help.

You will have a good eye for detail and be able to remain polite and calm under pressure.

  • Educated to GCSE level, or equivalent in relevant discipline
