The University of Northampton is looking to appoint 2 Facility Service Operatives to provide day to day support with the preparation of buildings/facilities in line with staff and student requirements to meet the Service Level Agreement.

You will;

  • Liaise with specialist teaching areas and technicians to support all room resets/layout changes.
  • Report to the Helpdesk, any observed defects or maintenance items.
  • Assist with the receipt, unloading, storage or delivery of all University post and resources delivered from the Resource Centre.
  • Complete all jobs raised by the Helpdesk in a prompt and efficient manner, and within priority timescales specified in the Service Level Agreement.
  • Support all office moves including the movement of furniture and equipment.
  • Set out classrooms as required by timetables and layout specifications.
  • Assist in the cleaning of buildings and grounds, especially in the vicinity of entrances, as directed by the Facilities Supervisor.
  • Set up conference, lecture and event facilities as required.
  • Assist with the periodical deep cleaning programme as required.

We are an accredited Living Wage Foundation Employer and currently pay the real living wage, which is currently £24,309 per annum. In recognition of this, the starting salary for this post has been increased to pay this higher amount which currently supersedes the actual Grade 2 salary before living wage.

About you

You will;

  • Have a full UK driving licence.
  • Be able to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills to a standard appropriate to post
  • Be able to work accurately and safely.
  • Have experience in completion of work in accordance with approved codes of practice and legislative compliance.
  • Have experience of working in occupied buildings understanding not to cause disruption. 
  • Have experience in meeting deadlines. 
  • Have experience in housekeeping tasks.
  • Be smart phone/tablet literate.
