About the job

Interview Date: Week Commencing 30 November 2026

The Integration Engineer will lead the design, development, implementation, support and continuous improvement of the University’s enterprise integration services. You will create secure, reliable integrations, APIs and reusable services using Boomi, define technical standards and patterns, and provide integration architecture and solution assurance.

Working with application, data, infrastructure, security and project teams, you will map requirements and dependencies, administer and optimise the Boomi platform, and manage incidents, problems, releases and changes.

The post also embeds secure-by-design, DevOps, and CI/CD practices; strengthens monitoring, data quality, business continuity, and disaster recovery; manages suppliers; and contributes to integration strategy, roadmaps, automation, and knowledge sharing. Planned out-of-hours release or incident support may be required.

We want you to be able to carry out your work in a way that best supports UON and our students, but also you as an individual. We understand this may vary between different areas of the university as well as from one person to another.  With Smarter Working, you can work with increased flexibility, if you would like to, which can facilitate greater freedom and autonomy.

To avoid disappointment, please submit an application at your earliest, as we reserve the right to close the advert early due to business requirements.

About you

You will have significant hands-on experience designing, developing, testing and supporting enterprise integrations using Boomi AtomSphere or the Boomi Enterprise Platform.

You will understand APIs, web services, databases, files and connectors, including API-led, event-driven, batch, synchronous, asynchronous and hybrid patterns. Excellent skills in data mapping, transformation, validation, exception handling, reconciliation, SQL, JSON, XML, schemas and interface contracts are essential.

You will have administered Boomi environments and applied Git, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing and controlled release practices.

Knowledge of data governance, information security, identity and access management, secrets management and UK GDPR is required. Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Linux runtimes, observability, scripting and higher education experience are desirable.

Qualifications

Essential;

  • Degree-level education or relevant experience demonstrating competence and progression in similar IT posts.

Desirable;

  • Current Boomi Professional Developer, Associate Developer or Integration Architect certification
  • Relevant Azure, integration architecture, DevOps or information security certification.

Department

The post leads the University’s integration capability across business, academic and data platforms within Application Services. Using Boomi, the service enables secure data exchange and works with application, data, infrastructure, security and project teams, suppliers and partners.

The post supports digital transformation and data-driven decision-making, including ingestion to Microsoft Fabric and Azure data services, while ensuring integrations remain secure, compliant and supportable
