Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Leather Finishing
The Institute for Creative Leather Technologies (ICLT) is the world leader in leather education attracting students from all around the world. ICLT is embedded within the newly built University of Northampton’s Waterside Campus situated in the heart of Northampton Town. ICLT is also celebrating new facilities equipped with a tannery, laboratories and lecture rooms. ICLT delivers top class teaching, training, research and consultancy working with the whole of the leather supply chain and related industries on a global level.
Successful applicants should be enthusiastic and be expected to offer significant contributions to all services offered within the ICLT.
Key roles within teaching include the planning, delivery and assessment of teaching and learning to students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The post holder will be from a science or technology background and be able to teach the theory and practical elements of leather finishing, ranging from highly specified automotive leather to creative fashion leathers. The post holder will also have an understanding of the leather manufacturing process, sufficient to engage with students at all academic levels.
Applicants will be expected to make positive contributions to the research programme within the ICLT and is likely to involve collaboration with other subject areas within the University. Current key priorities for ICLT are in the areas of Material Science, Leather and the Environment, Leather for Fashion and Leather Business.
Applicants will have a BSc and PhD (desirable) in a relevant subject.
The role would be ideal for an applicant currently in the science and technology area of leather finishing that is looking to work in a fast moving and innovative academic environment.
