We are currently recruiting for a Technical Operation Analyst within the IT Services Team. The post is for a Grade 6 Technical Operations Analyst; you must have a keen interest in IT technologies. This post will be diverse and gives you the opportunity to learn new skills across several IT teams.
The post will work alongside our technical teams, being based in the End User Computing team and covering the End User Computing team and some AV / Digital work.
The post is designed to provide a professional and customer focused technical resource for the IT Services technical teams providing both students and staff teams with IT assistance across the wider campus. You will be providing end user support, knowledge sharing and the deployment of IT assets. To act as a technical operations analyst giving support across the various technical teams, up skilling and learning new skills as necessary. You will be working across the wider campus to assist the technical teams in the delivery of both BAU and project-based IT activities.
The purpose of this post is to give the post holder a broad range of experience, working across various technologies and across all university sites, on and occasionally off the main Waterside Campus.
Due to the broad technical nature of the post, a good understanding of technical IT principles is required and keen interest to want to progress and enhance your skills within the IT teams.

The post will be initially based 5 days per week on our, bright and modern campus.
About You
You will have a keen interest in IT technologies and believe in leading by example with a high level of customer service being offered to your customers.
It is desirable that you should have a good knowledge of at least two of the following technologies:
- Windows Operating Systems 10 / 11
- Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022
- A good knowledge of IT end user devices
- A good knowledge of Microsoft end user applications
- Laptop and desktop build processes, Laptop and desktop desk deployment process
- Various types of IT asset deployment for end users
- A good understanding of the Office 365 Environment
- An understanding of network principles and patching
- An understanding of AV system principles
- An understanding of Teams video conferencing
- A good understanding of file storage, backup and data recovery techniques
- Knowledge of Service Monitoring (Logic Monitor), and other tools
- An understanding of Asset management
- An understanding of Automation technologies
- An understanding of the printing process
- A good understanding of Mobile phone technologies and Mobile Device Management solutions
- Knowledge and understanding of AI Technologies
Your focus on customer service will give you the ability to communicate with end users at various levels, using both technical and non-technical language.
You must be able to work as part of a team and very importantly using your own initiative.
There may be the occasional out of hour working.
The post will involve working to deadlines as we are an educational environment with key demands that we must achieved at certain times of the year.
Qualifications
Essential
- Hold a relevant professional level IT qualification or Bachelors/ Advanced Degree and relevant experience (or equivalent)
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable
- ITIL Foundation Certified
IT Services
We are the IT Services Team for the university and provide, data applications, networking and technical support services for the whole university within the compute environment.
The IT Services team is made up of approximately 60 team members giving scope for future development of your career, subject to appropriate vacancies becoming available.
